Roadworks on the A809

Councillor Manjinder Shergill has provided us with the following
information:

A809 Stockiemuir Road, Bearsden - Temporary Traffic Management
A contractor is to cut back overhanging vegetation on the A809 Stockiemuir Road north of Stockiemuir Avenue, Bearsden.  In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, Stop/Go boards will be used to control traffic movements on Stockiemuir Road at the works location, from 9.30am until 3.30pm on Monday 16 February 2015.  The use of Stop/Go boards will result in delays to traffic on Stockiemuir Road

A809 Drymen Road, Bearsden - Temporary Traffic Management
British Telecom is to carry out repairs to a cable fault on the A809 Drymen Road near its junction with Beechwood Lane, Bearsden.  In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, temporary three way traffic signals will be used to control traffic movements on Drymen Road at Beechwood Lane, Bearsden, from 9am until 3.30pm on Monday 16 February 2015.  The temporary traffic signals will be manually controlled at all times.  The use of temporary traffic signals will result in delays to traffic in the area.

UIS is to carry out a drainage pipeline survey on a section of the A809 Stockiemuir Road between its junctions with Courthill and the access road to Bearsden Academy and a point north of Drymen Road, Bearsden.  In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, the existing traffic signals will require to be switched off and temporary four way traffic signals will be used to control traffic movements on Stockiemuir Road at its junctions with Courthill and the access road to Bearsden Academy, Bearsden. Thereafter, the permanent traffic signals will be switched back on and stop/go boards will be used to control traffic movement as the survey works proceed southwards on Stockiemuir Road towards the A809 Drymen Road, Bearsden.  The works will be carried out between 9.10am and 3.30pm, on Thursday 19 February 2015.  The temporary traffic signals will be manually controlled at all times.  The use of temporary traffic signals will result in delays to traffic in the area.

Proposed Local Development Plan

Following Council approval on 22 January 2015, East Dunbartonshire Council will soon be publishing its Proposed Local Development Plan for consultation. The Proposed Plan sets out the Council’s land use strategy for East Dunbartonshire and will be used to determine planning applications. More information about the Plan can be found at:

Core path

Hacking & Paterson are currently carrying out path maintenance and drainage works to the Core Path which runs along the back of Dunellan Road and Douglas Muir Drive. Trees will also be planted to replace the ones taken down unnecessarily at the back of Dunellan Road.  The small section of woodland at this area is being placed under a Tree Preservation Order by East Dunbartonshire Council (EDC).  This now means that the entire woodland along the Core Path will be protected by Tree Preservation Orders and any works must be carried out through Hacking & Paterson who will consult with EDC. Unauthorised tree removal will result in further action and possible fines. It is hoped that these works will improve the area.

Thanks also go to the Ramblers who have already carried out improvement works to the Core Path at the Chestnut Lane area.

Proposed residential development at land known as Fire Station Field, Craigdhu Road, Milngavie

Residents are invited to attend David Wilson Homes West Scotland's public exhibition of proposals to develop the land known as Fire Station Field on Craigdhu Road, Milngavie.

As you may be aware, David Wilson Homes West Scotland assumed control of the site in late 2014. During the ongoing pre-application discussions with East Dunbartonshire Council, a Proposal of Application Notice was submitted on 7th November 2014 (Ref: TP/ED/14/0837) which outlined their consultation plans in advance of lodging a planning application in 2015. A copy was also sent to Milngavie Community Council and they have written to them separately in their capacity as the representative for the local
community.

In recognition of the impact that this development will have on residents, there will be a public event on Friday, 23rd January 2015 from 14:00 to 20:00 at the Fraser Centre, Douglas Street, Milngavie.

The exhibition will provide an opportunity to discuss the proposals, explain the work that has been completed to date and obtain your views in advance of submitting a full planning application.

There is no need to register. Simply arrive at the exhibition when it suits you.

Christmas waste collections

Please note that your large grey bin collection and food collection which would be due for uplift on Christmas Day will be collected two days later on the Saturday 27 December 2014.  The same will also apply the following week when the two recycling bins would be due for collection along with the food bin on 1 January 2015.  These will again be two days later on 3 January 2015. We would also ask residents to be careful at this time of year when placing bins out, so that they do not get blown away in times of high wind.  If a neighbour is available, and you are out at work all day, perhaps you can make an arrangement for your neighbour to bring in your bins once they have been emptied.  If you are at home, perhaps you can offer to do this for a neighbour who is out all day.
