Making the Most of Milngavie

Making the Most of Milngavie, who recently sent surveys to every household, are holding meetings on 9th & 11th June in Milngavie Town Hall at 7 p.m.  They hope people can come along to one of them.

Time at these meetings will be precious, so they would encourage you to get your thinking caps on beforehand.

Here's an idea of the themes around which they want to encourage debate and ideas:

Improving Green Spaces
Developing local play areas; creation of allotments; improving public paths and walkways for all abilities; enhancing the reservoir area experience; making our sports pitches fit for purpose; a 'masterplan' for Lennox park.

Improving Public Amenities
Better use of CE centre for local activity groups; public toilets; renewable/hydro energy provision; a community social/meeting place; community cinema.

Improving Opportunities for Young People
Preschool toddler services; classes and learning; workplace experiences; facilities for young people; involvement across the community.

Improving the Range of Community Events and Gatherings
Community 'shop' for recycling and lending items; creative/cultural festivals; weekly Lennox Park-run; classes/further learning; Milngavie Week revisited; one stop website for community links and information.

The local police and community support officers will be there together with our local elected members, and there will also be a short presentation by local farmer Mr Andrew Graham of Tambowie farm regarding a renewable energy plant he is proposing.

Community survey

Making the Most of Milngavie (MMM)is a sub group of Milngavie Community Council who have embarked on a 6 month exercise to produce a Community Action Plan. The first of three steps is to hold a month-long Community Survey. Every household in Milngavie will receive a paper copy before the end of this month.

We hope residents will complete the survey when it arrives.  It can also be completed on-line at www.surveymonkey.com/s/milngavie
Once the results of this survey are collated there will be a serious of meetings for residents to have a say in the shaping of the Action Plan.

We hope that you will be able to take the time to complete this and support this initiative.
