Mains Estate Residents' Association (MERA) AGM

The MERA AGM will be held on Monday 24th October 2022 at 7:30pm at Douglas Academy.  

There will be an update on the Local Development Plan, a Question and Answer session with Hacking and Paterson and a Discussion together with the Head Teacher of Douglas Academy and the Community Warden.

Mains Estate Exhibition and Heritage Walks 

Did you know that March is East Dunbartonshire Local History Month?

This year the history and the heritage of the Mains Estate will be celebrated through an Exhibition and Heritage Walks

The Exhibition will be hosted by Milngavie Heritage Centre in Milngavie Library from Saturday 12th March – Saturday 9th April 2022 (excl. Sundays), during normal library opening hours.  No booking required.

The Heritage Walks will take place on Saturday 19th March 2022 at 10am and 2pm.  Advanced booking is necessary due to limited numbers. Please call 0141 956 3541 to book.

 

The second edition of Nigel Orr’s book ‘Milngavie: The Village’ is also now available from admin@milngavieheritage.org

                                 COVID-19 Hotspot in the Mains Estate


MERA would like to highlight that COVID-19 prevalence is currently rising in East Dunbartonshire and that the Mains Estate is one of the hotspots.  The incidence of COVID-19 within Clober and the Mains Estate is currently around 230 cases per 100,000 (Source: Public Health Scotland, https://public.tableau.com/app/profile/phs.covid.19/viz/COVID-19DailyDashboard_15960160643010/Overview).  The PCR positive test rate in East Dunbartonshire is 4% which is close to the WHO threshold of 5%.

Help save the Mains Estate 'Historic Environment' - Deadline 31 May 2021

The historic environment of the Mains Estate helps to make it a special place to live and it is an important part of our local heritage.  Sadly, the historic protection is under threat of removal.  Please respond to the Council's consultation by 31st May 2021 and we can help save our historic environment together.

COVID-19 - Some areas of East Dunbartonshire are showing a particular cause for concern

East Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) advises that East Dunbartonshire has the second highest incidence of COVID-19 in Scotland, with some areas showing a particular cause for concern mera-milngavie.co.uk/docs/PSUCCOVID-19InfoMay2021.pdf

We are advised to remain vigilant within Milngavie and Bearsden and follow the FACTS guidance though: social distancing, good hand and respiratory hygiene, using appropriate face coverings and by adhering to current protection Level 3 guidance https://www.gov.scot/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-protection-levels/pages/protection-level-3/
